Non-binary experiences of (gender-based) violence at work
Warm welcome to a lecture that sheds light on how non-binary people experience their work situation through a research perspective.
Despite increased focus on diversity in working life, the experiences of non-binary employees are often forgotten. A large study with almost 18,000 employees from 15 European countries shows that non-binary people experience more psychological violence and sexual harassment than others. They more often feel excluded or insecure at work, which leads to higher stress and mental illness.
Many workplaces lack inclusive HR policies and effective measures against gender-based violence. To create a safe working environment for everyone, HR work needs to focus not only on diversity, but also on safety and challenging old gender norms.
